A glimpse of the fun and excitement of the event...
InSIMerdeka 2023: Amerta marks the inaugural event produced by the 18th Executive Committee of InSIM. InSIMerdeka stands as an annual commemoration where participants come together to honor Indonesia's momentous Independence Day. The occasion features a solemn flag ceremony followed by a medley of both traditional and contemporary games. This year, the event is under the stewardship of ten directors overseeing 28 committees, in addition to 16 performers. The total number of participants gracing the event tallies at 51 individuals. We are honored to have had esteemed guests from PPIS (Indonesian Association in Singapore) and KBRI (Indonesian Embassy in Singapore) in attendance.
The festivities commence with a meticulously organized flag ceremony, where one of the KBRI representatives assumes the role of the speaker. The event proceeds with a captivating dance performance by ISDC (InSIM Dance Club), skillfully blending the essence of Indonesian music with contemporary dance forms. Subsequently, the event transitions to the post-game sessions in the Botanic Garden. Unfortunately, adverse weather conditions, characterized by drizzling and heavy rainfall, interrupted the games before their completion. However, our committee adeptly managed the situation by relocating all activities to SIM's indoor facilities as per our wet weather contingency plan.
Upon returning to SIM, the post-game sessions resumed, with six groups vying to accumulate the highest possible points. The victorious group, attaining the most points, earned the distinction of being named the "Soekarno Cabinet,"Â a tribute to Indonesia's first president. The array of games included challenges such as inserting pencils into bottles, guessing the capital cities of Indonesian provinces, sack races, ping-pong ball relay through pipes, maze labyrinths, and many more.Â
The pinnacle of the competition, offering the highest point yield, was the traditional Indonesian game "Ular Naga,"Â frequently enjoyed during childhood. Preceding the announcement of the winners, the InSIM Band delivered a mesmerizing performance, enchanting the audience with a nostalgic repertoire of Indonesian songs from the 2010s. The participants were thoroughly delighted and thoroughly relished the musical spectacle.
Cabinet Natsir secured the highest point total, earning each participant a $10 Grab Voucher along with a 3kg RaySpeed Delivery Voucher. Cabinet Harahap claimed the second position, securing a 2kg RaySpeed Delivery Voucher. The overall feedback regarding the event has been overwhelmingly positive, particularly regarding the professionalism demonstrated by our committee members in addressing the adverse weather conditions. We intend to utilize both internal and external feedback to minimize future shortcomings and maximize the potential of our committees in ensuring the success of future InSIM events
